What is the difference between cold-rolled steel and hot-rolled steel?

What is cold-rolled steel?

Cold rolled steel is the steel produced by cold rolling. Cold rolling is to further thin the No.1 steel plate to the target thickness at room temperature. Compared with a hot-rolled steel plate, the cold-rolled steel plate thickness is more accurate, and the surface is smooth and beautiful, but also has a variety of superior mechanical properties, especially machining performance. Because the cold-rolled original coil is brittle and hard, it is not suitable for processing, so the cold-rolled steel plate is usually handed to the customer after annealing, pickling and surface leveling. The maximum thickness of cold rolling is 0.1-8.0mm below, such as most factories cold rolling steel plate thickness is below 4.5mm; The minimum thickness and width are determined by the equipment capacity of each plant and market demand.

What is the difference between cold-rolled steel and hot-rolled steel?

The difference between cold rolling steel and hot rolling steel is not in the smelting process, but in rolling temperature, or rolling termination temperature. When the final rolling temperature is lower than the recrystallization temperature of steel, it becomes cold-rolled steel. Hot rolling steel is easy to roll, and high efficiency, but under the hot rolling conditions of steel oxidation, the product surface is dark gray light. Cold rolling requires large rolling mill power and low rolling efficiency, and in the rolling process in order to eliminate work hardening and intermediate annealing, the cost is also high, but cold rolling steel surface is bright, good quality, can be directly used to process finished products, so cold rolling steel is widely used.
